Hi I’m Meg!

I am an embroidery designer and maker based in Nottinghamshire. I studied BA Textile Design at De Montfort University and then went on to study a MA in Fashion and Textiles at Nottingham Trent University. I have a passion for storytelling and love to create longevity bespoke applications using my specialism of embroidery, using a combination hand and digital embroidery.

I am also a fabric dyer where I use my knowledge and hand craft skill to create original prints and colour to the exact brief. I can work with a range of fabrics such as silks, wool and cottons, I am confident about the properties of fabrics: the drape, how they take colour and how I embroidery and fabric work as a marriage.

In 2020 I received a third prize for hand embroidery from the Bradford Textile Society and most recently I was a shortlisted as a finalist for the fashion and textiles category for the Young Creatives Award Nottingham. I have also gained valuable experience as studio assistant intern at Hand and Lock Embroidery, where I worked as part of a team at the heart of an embroidery design studio, gaining knowledge into the design industry as a studio assistant. I got to work in the studio, digital and production departments. I was able to learn and be trusted with digital monogramming and textile restoration.

I love challenging the boundaries of embroidery craft, layering materials to create bespoke applications; being technically challenged to problem solve and getting the embroidery from design to physical outcome.
